Schilddrüsenchirurgie

The course will focus on surgical treatment of thyroid gland diseases. The introductory part will summarize basic diagnostic steps and their importance for assessing various thyroid pathologies, as well as for determining the surgical strategy. Special attention will be devoted to sonography and fine needle aspiration biopsy. Surgical treatment of non-malignant thyroid patology will be discussed; however, the bulk of the course will deal with surgical treatment of malignant thyroid tumors. Various surgical techniques and procedures employed to identify the facial nerve and parathyroid glands will be discussed. We will focus on different approaches to the treatment o differentiated thyroid tumors. The final part of the course will recap possible surgical procedures used to lymph node metastases.
